The shell is transparent, so the fitting stays visually light on the post during the day and glows evenly rather than showing a single bright point once it comes on at night.

Everything the light needs is inside the cap. A 60 by 60mm 2V 0.3W solar panel sits on the top face, charging a 1.2V 800mAh battery through the day, and the light comes on by itself once the surroundings go dark. There is no cable to run down the post, no supply to reach and no switch to operate.

The body is ABS with an IP65 rating, which is what allows the cap to sit on an exposed post through rain, frost and summer sun without being taken in. A 3.5 by 3.5 inch inner ring is supplied as an accessory, so the cap can be seated correctly on standard posts.

Lighting & Atmosphere

Each cap carries twelve SMD2835 LEDs, which is a generous count for a fitting this size and is what gives the transparent shell its even glow. The light is specified at 3000K and 6000K together, combining a warm tone with a much cooler white, so the output has both warmth and clarity rather than sitting entirely at one end of the scale.

On a fence line the effect is a row of softly lit post tops that traces the boundary after dark. That is more useful than it sounds in a garden, because a lit edge shows the shape and extent of the space from indoors, where a single bright light simply creates glare and leaves the rest black.

Design & Style

The transparent shell is the defining choice here. Solid coloured caps read as objects sitting on the post; a clear shell largely disappears against the sky in daylight and lets the structure of the fence stay the thing you notice. At night the whole shell lights rather than just a lens, so the cap becomes a soft glowing form.

Because the design is plain and geometric, it suits modern fencing, vinyl railings and painted timber equally, and it does not tie the look of a garden to a particular period style.

Choosing the Right Variant

The choice is quantity: a single light or a pack of two. One cap suits a gate post, a corner post or a single pillar that needs marking. A two pack is the natural choice for a gateway with a post on each side, or for a short deck rail where two lit posts define the run. For longer fence lines, several packs spaced evenly along the run give a far better result than a couple of lights close together.

Where It Works Best

These are designed for standard 4x4 posts, which covers most garden fence posts, deck railing posts, pergola uprights and gate posts in wood or vinyl. They also work on pillar tops of a similar size where a small decorative light is wanted at the boundary.

Sunlight is the one thing to plan around. The panel is on the top face of the cap, so it needs open sky above it. A post beneath a tree, under a pergola roof or in the shadow of the house will charge slowly and give a short evening, while the same cap on an open fence line will run much longer. On a fence that passes from sun into shade, expect the shaded posts to underperform the rest.

Installation & Practical Use

Installation is a simple, self-contained job with no electrical work involved. The inner ring helps seat the cap on the post, and the fitting is then secured in place. Posts should be sound and cut reasonably level, since a cap will not sit properly on a split or weathered post top.

After that the light looks after itself, charging by day and switching on at night. Run time varies with the season, as it does with all solar lighting, and wiping the small panel clear of dust, pollen, leaves and bird droppings occasionally is the most effective maintenance there is, since anything covering the panel blocks the charge before the battery ever sees it.

Solar post cap light sized for standard 4x4 wooden and vinyl posts

Transparent shell for an even glow rather than a single bright point

Twelve SMD2835 LEDs per cap

Colour temperature specified at 3000K and 6000K

60 x 60mm 2V 0.3W solar panel with a 1.2V 800mAh battery

Switches on and off automatically with the daylight

IP65 rated ABS construction for year round outdoor use

3.5 x 3.5 inch inner ring supplied

Available as a single light or a pack of two

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1098/0622/3699/files/generated_29961fd2-6d9d-4897-b844-4e0d887cd22a.png?v=1787698940
https://elumalighting.store/products/1-2-pcs-4x4-solar-post-cap-lights-fence-post-solar-lights-fit-for-4x4-vinyl-wooden-posts-ip65-waterproof-outdoor-lighting
