years

This solar lantern needs no wiring, no switch on a wall and no electricity bill. A solar panel on top absorbs daylight and charges a built-in lithium battery, and a light sensor turns the lantern on by itself at dusk and off again at dawn. Once it is hung in a sunny spot, it runs on its own from one season to the next with nothing to do but keep the panel clean.

The body is hand-crafted rattan, woven rather than moulded, which is what separates it from the plastic solar lights that dominate garden centres. Lit, the weave breaks the warm output into a pattern of light and shadow that falls on the ground and the surrounding planting, and unlit it reads as a natural basket - so it still looks intentional hanging in a tree during the day. Two woven styles are offered.

Weather protection is IP65, sealed against dust and water jets from any direction, so the lantern copes with ordinary rain and wind without being brought in. It is lightweight and sturdy, with quality materials chosen for outdoor life, and carries a two year warranty. This is decorative atmosphere lighting rather than security lighting: expect a warm glow rather than a bright beam.

How the Solar System Works

The panel converts sunlight into electricity during the day and stores it in a rechargeable battery, rated at 800mAh behind a 2.5V 250mA panel. A built-in sensor detects falling light levels and switches the lantern on automatically at dusk, keeping it lit into the night and shutting it off at dawn. There is no timer to set and no app to install.

Where It Works Best

Hanging is the intended use and the most attractive: from a tree branch, a pergola beam, a porch hook, a shepherd's hook, a fence post, a balcony rail or a garden arch. Hung at slightly different heights in a group of three, woven lanterns look considerably better than one on its own, and the shadow patterns overlap on the ground.

The lantern can equally be set down on a table, a step, a wall top, a lawn or a path edge, which makes it useful for an evening outdoors where candles would blow out. Beyond everyday garden use it suits weddings and outdoor events, and its woven texture works particularly well for autumn, Halloween and Christmas doorways and mantel displays.

Positioning the Panel

Almost every complaint about solar lights comes down to charging, and almost every charging problem comes down to position. The panel needs direct sun, not ambient daylight, and ideally several hours of it. A spot that is sunny at noon in June may be in full shade by October as the sun drops, so check the position across the seasons if the lantern is a permanent fixture.

Keep the panel clear of overhanging leaves and wipe it with a dry cloth every few weeks - a film of dust or pollen cuts charging efficiency more than most people expect. If the lantern is hung where a security light or a street lamp shines on it, the dusk sensor may not trigger reliably, so choose a darker spot if you can.

Care and Safety

IP65 covers rain and hosing but not submersion, so do not let the lantern sit in standing water or a pond. Keep it away from open flame, barbecues and high temperatures - it is a rattan body with a lithium cell inside. For long winter storage, bring it indoors somewhere cool and dry with the switch off to preserve battery life.

The LED is built in and warm in tone; there is no bulb to replace. Natural rattan will weather and lighten gradually outdoors, which is normal for the material. It is mainly a decorative light, so do not rely on it for lighting steps or level changes where a mains-powered fitting is the safer choice.

Power: solar panel with rechargeable 800mAh battery

Sensor: switches on at dusk, off at dawn automatically

Rating: IP65, withstands rain and most weather

Body: hand-woven rattan in two style options

Light: built-in warm LED, no bulb to fit

Wiring: none required, no running cost

Best for: trees, pergolas, porches, fences, tables, events

Note: decorative atmosphere light, keep away from flame

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1098/0622/3699/files/Woven_lantern_mounted_on_wall_20260925171253.jpg?v=1790352798
https://elumalighting.store/products/solar-lantern-outdoor-solar-lanterns-waterproof-for-outside-hanging-woven-lantern-boho-lamp-lights-decoration-for-garden-yard
